The Spot.
Having opened in 2014, Gjusta started as a commissary kitchen providing bread and other assorted products for Gjelina Group’s other restaurants, Gjelina and GTA. Over the years of growing popularity, Gjusta has grown into the successful California deli, bakery, café, and market it is today. During its busier hours, ticketed counter service and what almost feels like shoulder to shoulder patrons make the place feel very NYC deli-esque. Once you’ve entered, you’re quickly greeted by a long extended deli bar displaying everything from freshly baked bread and pastry items to fresh fish and meats.
With the deli case and ticketed counter service taking up a good portion of the indoor space, the seating is mostly outside in several of their lovely patios, covered patio options included.
The Menu.
You’ll find market items like fresh produce and free-range, cage-free eggs in addition to their daily restaurant breakfast and lunch menu. Menu highlights include:
Italian Sandwich- Made with ciabatta baguette, sopressata, mortadella, ham, chopped escarole, pickled peppers, tomatoes, onion, fontina, mayo, and oregano vinaigrette.
Brisket Butcher Sandwich - Made with baguette, olive oil, salt & pepper, served with a side of au jus.
Cucumber Salad- Served with marinated feta, dill, za’atar, pickled onions, mint, aleppo pepper, and sunflower seeds.
Mezze Plate- Served with baba ganoush, roasted peppers, marinated feta, cucumbers, pickled shishito, olives, za’atar, and grilled pita.
