Named for founder Fran Camaj’s mother, Gjelina opened on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in 2008, serving locally-sourced, produce-forward food and becoming a staple in the Venice community. With dark walls, wood paneled ceilings, and brick cobblestone under foot, the vibe is moody and romantic. Open all day with menus to match the time of day. Monday through Friday breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon menus are available throughout the day, while Saturday and Sunday a brunch menu takes over from 8am-2:30pm. Dinner service starts at 5pm.

Brunch menu includes a wide variety of plates, breakfast dishes, salads, and pizzas. Highlights are the “Grilled Hanger Steak Banh Mi” served with pickled vegetable, cilantro, and horseradish aioli and classic breakfast dishes with creative spins like the “Omelette” served with squash blossom, baby zucchini, ricotta, mint, and arugula and the “Lemon Buckwheat Ricotta Pancakes”, served with blueberry compote, and crème fraîche.
