Osteria La Buca

Osteria La Buca

The Spot.

One of two Italian restaurants, Osteria La Buca first opened in a tiny shoebox space (La Buca literally means “the hole”, aka hole in the wall) on Melrose Ave by a literal Italian nonna in 2005. After the success of the first restaurant and a few change of hands, the now LA Italian food staple branched out to this Sherman Oaks location in 2020.

Bright and airy during the day with crisp whites, light oak finishes, and greenery sprinkled throughout, the all day restaurant turns into a romantic dimly lit dinner spot at night, with a casual patio dining as well.

The Menu.

The Melrose location has long since been revered as Italian food you can count on being delicious. The same goes for this location with the exact same menu lined up. Highlights are:

Guanciale Pizza - made with cured pork jowl, mozzarella, tomato, fresno chili, rosemary, and castelvetrano olives.

Grilled Branzino - served with roasted leeks, citrus, pickled fresnos, and cilantro.

Rigatoni Corto Pasta - served with house made sausage, broccoli di cicco, and parmesan.

Bacon & Honey Pizza - made with vodka sauce, applewood smoked bacon, fresh mozzarella, white onion, bee pollen, and hot honey.
